ASM General Information


Please find below some helpful information to best prepare you for the 2022 ANZCA ASM.



The 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC), located in the heart of the Perth CBD from Friday April 29 to Tuesday May 3, 2022. For more venue information visit the PCEC website.

Travelling to and from the airport

Perth airport is approximately a 25-minute drive from the city centre. A taxi will cost about $43 one-way from the airport. Taxi ranks are located at the front of all terminals. To catch a taxi, simply follow the signs to the nearest taxi ranks.

There are also dedicated rideshare pick up areas. Please wait until you have collected your luggage and are ready to leave the airport before requesting your ride through the Ola or Uber app. There are dedicated rideshare pick-up bays within easy walking distance of each terminal. Simply follow the directions given in the app and terminal signage to the nearest rideshare pick-up bay. For more information, visit the Perth Airport website.


Airport transfers

A Perth Airport Shuttle service operates between the airport and city hotels. For more information visit the Just Transfers website.


Public transport

Transperth operates regular bus services between Perth Airport, Perth City and other local centres. Bus Route 380 has dedicated luggage rucks and runs daily between the Elizabeth Quay Bus Station in the Perth city centre and T1 and T2. Bus Route 40 operates seven days a week between Elizabeth Quay Bus Station and T3/T4 via Great Eastern Highway, offering the most direct route between Perth Airport and Perth City. Travelling to and from PCEC

PCEC is easily accessible by foot, ride-share or public transport including bus, train or ferry from South Perth. Positioned adjacent to the Swan River, Elizabeth Quay train station and bus port or 10 minutes walk to Perth Underground train station.


PCEC Parking

There are approximately 5000 car parking bays within a 10-minute walk of the PCEC. The City of Perth Convention Centre Car Park is located directly under the centre. The car park is open 24 hours, seven days a week and can be accessed via Mill Street, Mounts Bay Road, or the Riverside Drive off-ramp from Mitchell Freeway. Public transport around Perth

There are plenty of train, bus and ferry options for travel in Perth and WA. More information is available on the Transperth website.

Perth also has a free bus service that operates around the CBD. These buses are called CATS (central area transport service) and service the free transit zone (FTZ) which are clearly marked around the city. Visit the Transperth website for more info.


SmartRider card

This is the cheapest and most convenient way to ride on all Transperth services. The card fits into your wallet and is reusable, letting you top-up with additional funds as you need. For more information go to SmartRider.

Emergency call service

The phone number to call for emergency services in Australia is 000. The operator will then connect you to police, ambulance or the fire brigade.


During May the average temperature is 22 degrees celsius with an overnight low of around 12 degrees celsius.

Dress code

Meeting sessions: Smart casual.
HCI Reception: Smart casual.
College Ceremony and Welcome Reception (stage party): Black tie and college/faculty gown or academic dress. (Guests): Cocktail or lounge suit. College/faculty gown or academic dress is preferred for fellows at the College Ceremony and required for New fellows at the Welcome Reception.
Gala Dinner: Dress to impress – black tie with a touch of neon and glamour.


Delegates are strongly advised to secure appropriate travel and health insurance. Delegate registration fees do not provide any such insurance coverage. The regional organising committee and the ASM secretariat accepts no responsibility for any loss in this regard.


The meeting organisers recognise that some delegates may have special dietary needs. Please advise the meeting secretariat either via the registration form or in writing. Please note that dietary requirements must be received two weeks before the ASM in order to be guaranteed.
