LS03 Can we simplify Propofol administration using one model?
Speakers: Michel Struys, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Chair Department of Anesthesiology
Lunch: served from 12pm
Session time: 12.15-1.15pm
Cost: $A22

Overview:
Many anaesthetists interested in intravenous anaesthesia will be aware of the various pharmacokinetic (PK) models for Propofol such as Schnider, Marsh, Kataria and Paedfusor.
The advent of the Eleveld TCI model gives clinicians new possibilities to optimise dosing across broader clinical situations, from neonates to the elderly and high BMI individuals. More importantly, this is achieved whilst maintaining stable and predictable concentrations.
The purpose of this session is to:
1) Understand the kinetics and the demographic support behind the model, as well as its limitations
2) Explain the impact of adjustments for covariates, including the presence or absence of opioids
3) Ensure differences between Eleveld, Schnider and Marsh TCI models are understood
4) Provide case study scenarios, including use in paediatrics and obese patients
This session is aimed at all levels of TIVA users, including those interested in TCI. It will be suited for those interested in PK-PD models.
