Welcome from the regional organising committee

On behalf of the regional organising committee, I’d like to extend a very warm North Queensland invitation to Gimuy, Country of the Yirrganydji people for the 2025 ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) from 2-6 May and Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) Symposium on 2 May.

The theme of the meeting is “Futureproof” and we’re looking forward to showcasing the amazing works and developments in our profession against the stunning backdrop of the surrounds that the committee and I are all lucky enough to call our home.

I’m confident our evidence-based scientific meeting is going to provide the proof we need to provide for the future of our profession, while our discussions on all areas of sustainability will help to future proof both our environment and our own personal wellbeing.  We’re mixing up the last day with some last chance continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities and also fast, interactive sessions for that all important in-person engagement.

We have some amazing social events planned at some incredible venues, showcasing the many delights of the tropics and I can guarantee some warmth for those of you from down south as the southern winter bites! We encourage you to arrive early or extend your stay after the meeting, as we’ve teamed up with local operators to provide pre- and post-travel experiences in Far North Queensland. Cairns is ideally located between two world heritage sites: the ancient Daintree Rainforest and the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef.

Can’t make it to Cairns? An ASM onDemand package will be available for you to view recorded content from the scientific program – plenary and concurrent sessions. The ASM onDemand package will be available to watch in your own time from 13 May 2025.

Come join us in Cairns for learning, networking and socialising in our beautiful hometown, we look forward to seeing you! Keep an eye on the website for updates and on socials follow the hashtag #ASM25CNS.
