WELCOME FROM PRESIDENT AND DEAN
On behalf of ANZCA and FPM, we are delighted to invite you to Adelaide for the 2027 ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) and FPM Symposium. Building on the strong tradition of bringing together the anaesthesia, pain medicine and perioperative medicine community, the ASM remains the premier scientific meeting for anaesthetists, pain medicine specialists and perioperative physicians.
The 2027 ASM will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC) from 30 April to 4 May 2027, with pre-ASM workshops taking place on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 April. The main scientific program will take place running from Saturday 1 – Tuesday 4 May 2027.
Under the theme “Together for Tomorrow”, the 2027 ASM convenor, Dr Craig Morrison, and the regional organising committee are developing an engaging and forward-looking program that will showcase innovation, stimulate discussion and explore the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of our specialties. Together, we will examine how collaboration, research, education, and leadership can help us deliver the very best outcomes for our patients and communities.
Adelaide is an ideal host city for the ASM. Renowned for its accessibility, vibrant culture, and welcoming atmosphere, Adelaide offers delegates the convenience of direct flights from major Australian and New Zealand cities, a short transfer from the airport to the city, and a walkable CBD where accommodation, dining and entertainment are all within easy reach of the ACC. Whether you are travelling across town or across the Tasman, Adelaide makes attending the ASM and connecting with colleagues effortless.
We extend our sincere thanks to Dr Morrison, the regional organising committee, and all contributors, whose dedication and expertise are shaping what promises to be an inspiring scientific meeting. We are equally grateful for the support of our industry partners, whose contributions help ensure a high-quality conference experience and opportunities to engage with the latest developments in medicine and research.
The FPM Symposium, held on Friday 30 April 2027 at the ACC, will explore the theme “Smart, Safe, Scientific”. The Symposium will provide delegates an opportunity to examine contemporary issues in pain medicine and highlight the importance of delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care and management through innovation, safety and scientific excellence.
The scientific program will be launched in late November 2026, with registrations opening in the first week of December 2026. We encourage you to join us in Adelaide to reconnect with colleagues, exchange ideas, explore new research, and foster long-standing professional networks. We look forward to welcoming you to Adelaide for what promises to be an exceptional 2027 ASM.
